The University of Toronto Sports and Business Association’s (UTSB) main goal is to bridge the gap between students and industry professionals. Founded in 2011 by an ambitious group of young sports enthusiasts, UTSB has become one of the most recognized student-run organizations across many university campuses within the province and country. On the 22nd March 2013 UTSB ran its second annual Sports Industry Conference, attracting more than 200 of the brightest and most passionate student delegates.

UTSB’s objective towards the next five years is to make the University of Toronto a prominent source of sports and leadership development through a wide variety of events and conferences. Designated in the heart of downtown Toronto at the historic University of Toronto St. George campus, UTSB is privileged to have some of Canada’s most competitive sports franchises (Toronto Maple Leafs, Toronto Blue Jays, Toronto Raptors, Toronto Argonauts, Toronto FC etc.) at its disposal in its own backyard.

Our motto is “Turning Dreams into Careers,” and we can confidently say it has succeeded expectations thus far in becoming a valuable resource for students to receive insight on developing business careers in sports. UTSB understands the importance of academics in collaboration with community involvement, and therefore encourages inspiring students to come on out, get involved, and familiarize yourselves with the University of Toronto campus. UTSB is that stepping stone to get you started.

Our upcoming year will include many case competitions, in which students will get real world exposure to business decisions that constantly challenge industry executives. Additionally, our association will continue to organize the popular Sports Industry Conference in the spring, featuring some of Canada’s most established leaders in the industry. We look forward to the exciting year ahead, creating more informative and interactive events with our students and community.
